» Welcome to Euro Chimaera |
Welcome to the greatest European Star Wars Galaxies emulator community on the net. Whether you are an ex-Chimaeran, a veteran of another server or a newbie we extend our welcome to you, even if you're from across the pond or further afar.
We’re all here because we all share one thing in common: a love for the SWG game before it was changed forever by the Combat Upgrade (CU) and laughable ‘New Game Enhancements’ (NGE). As you read this there are currently no playable emulators worth hosting at the moment, but when there is we will be the trailblazers.
- Register on the forums and get involved in our ever-growing community.
- Make an introductory thread in the Starport, let people know who you are and what your background is.
- Read the FAQ and the Chimaera specific FAQ. Browse over the stickied threads to acquaint yourself to what’s been going on around here recently.
If you have any questions feel free to create a post on the forums or PM one of the admins who are always willing to help out newcomers.
Why Chimaera is the place to be come launch day:
- The servers will be hosted on top quality equipment in a prominent UK data centre under the careful watch of trained professionals.
- The emulator will be written at the peak of SWG gameplay, namely Publish 14.1. The game is being written carefully and precisely by a group of unpaid volunteers whose sole interest is producing a quality game for all. The game will be provided free of charge and will be thoroughly tested by dedicated veterans who will try to pick apart the game and push it to its limits.
- Changes to the game after launch will be made by the community. The admins are here to provide administration – a service – and so anything the community wants in terms of changes the admins will try to accommodate into the gameplay.
- The community is inclusive and policed by itself. There have only been a few instances where the admins have had to step in to sort things out: on the whole the community runs on the ethos of “you get what you give.” Everyone is encouraged to sort their own problems directly with each other. This means that the whole server should be a relaxed and fun place to be, anyone threatening this will have bad things happen to their profile.
- Activity. The staff encourage people to get involved with the community, the decisions and the events that go on Chimaera. We’re not here to tell you what to do, it’s more the other way around. If you want something done or changed then step up and say it.
- We have links to the developers and other servers. We’re serious about making positive network links between us and other communities out there. Some members of our community are admins on other servers. Networking and a united front is something we’re keen to promote.
- We will NEVER ask ANYONE for money to be a part of our community or to play on our server. Chimaera will NEVER ask for donations or enforce any sort of system for charges. We just want to make that clear. Some emulator projects try to guilt their members into donating towards ‘development costs’; some servers genuinely need donations to operate their servers. Chimaera doesn’t. We’re here to stay.
We hope you like what you see, so once again – join the forums and make yourself known to everyone on the forums by introducing yourself.
Thanks for visiting -- Chimaera Staff and community

EC has taken a big step in appointing 2 full time mods for the public sections of these forums.
Their job will be upholding the forums rules which will be updated and replacing the existing ones very soon.
I'm sure they'll both be along soon to make their own introductions but without further ado please welcome
Ioiny and Deepsea to the EC staff.
They in return get funky blue names

Wellwell, where to start? My name Is jakob Jarefjäll, 21 years old and I'm currently living in Gothenburg, Sweden. Though from November 15 to the 20th of April, Switzerland will be my home, so if anyone is from that area and want to grab a beer or two send me a pm Also I might add that I'm a chef!
Well, I started of my humble character Ioiny Or-lo in 2004 and I played til' the middle of the Combat Upgrade. I've been in quite the few guilds with my chars Ioiny, gotch, namok and namow and the last one was my jedi. Though I want to believe that I'm most recognised as a member of the guild ReDevil's or [rDe], and I'm very proud for that since rDe back in the days where a stunning guild. I was a pvper most of the days though had my friendly crafter (namok) and runned a mall on LOK "The yellow twilek clothing". though when I return to the game I plan to destroy you all on the battlefield!
My mmo history is well quite short compared to others I guess. I did play the ordinary teenage games like diablo, cs and them as well but it wasn't until a very good mate of mine asked me if I wanted to join up in swg. I didn't know much about the game back then but read up, played his char in the beta and joined shortly after the real launch and was stuck till they destroyed the game with the combat upgrade (levels really??)
Now, I'm playing WoW to get the time going though I'm testing out pretty much everything the redevils members playing (dark and light, WAR, LOTRO, Age of conan, Pirates of the burning sea and such). Though I can't be arsed, I want one game and that is Star Wars galaxies pre-cu.
My goal here on EC have always been to help and offer my services for the sake of the server and I will continue with that spirit. And I was very flattered when they asked me if I wanted to join up! Hopefully old grudges can be laid aside in order to create the best server out there which without any doubt will be this one.
Long Live Chimaera!

My name is Steve Todd, and I'm a 30 year old guy from County Durham, in the north-east of England. I'm married, lucky enough to have a wife who also plays MMOs, and we're parents to a fabulous little girl who's two and a half years old.
I've been a player of MMO's for around the last 10 or 11 years or so.
In no particular order; Anarchy Online, City Of Heroes/Villains, Dark And Light, EVE Online, EQ2, Pirates Of The Burning Sea, Vanguard, World Of Warcraft, Earth & Beyond, and my one true love - Star Wars Galaxies.
I was leader of the successful imperial guild DarkR on the euro-chimaera server for around 2 and a bit years; before SOE ruined everything with their fisher-price style 'New Game Enhancements'. Along with our dedicated mayor Agi'nor and the other great guys, we raised the mighty metropolis of Reavers Retreat out of the shining sands of Lok.
My original character was called Tylk, a BH/Mpistoleer mix which was lots of fun, and latterly (and from thence, primarily in many people's eyes) Deepsea Coldwater, the blue-skinned Mon Cal.
I was a crafter of solid reputation, a Shipwright, who could spend all day talking 'shop' about crafting if given the chance. I specialised in making custom loadouts for the discerning pilot, distinguishing myself from the largely mass produced efforts of other Shipwrights.
I can proudly say that easily 80% of my wares were made by hand, to order, based on very specific pilot requirements explained over a friendly meeting in the waiting room of my workshop. I did it for the love of it, as much as the credits, and I think this came through in the care and attention I gave to every customer.
I also enjoyed dabbling in politics, especially those relating to new and interesting ways to wipe Rebel bases off the map at regular intervals. As DarkR leader, I was a member of the very successful Imperial High Council, a collection of powerful guilds which helped to co-ordinate staged assaults on rebel installations right across the server.
By day, I was a mild mannered Shipwright - but by night, for quite some time, I was one of the much derided but incredibly fun to play 'one man demo teams'. Hacking PVP base bio-engineer terminals against the clock - as reb reinforcements raced to stop us - was superb fun.
No other game has come close to the unique qualities of SWG, and nothing ever will in all likelihood. MMOs as a whole have turned away from the sandbox concept and most content is now on story paths or 'rails' as I like to say, leaving the scope for true interaction and legacy building to an absolute minimum.
I guess at heart, I'm an old fashioned Brit who highly values manners, and being polite and respectful to any who do not demand the opposite by their words and deeds. I have a reputation for not suffering fools gladly, but also being quick to help people in need, both of which I'm happy to confirm.
I'll be applying the same basic tenets to my mod-ship here, and also for my new guild DUSK once EC goes live once more.
Thanks to the powers-that-be for giving me this opportunity, and thank you all for staying within the rules - as I'm sure you will - as responsible citizens of the EC community.
