Now, I've been having trouble with these cunts for the past 6 months (before that everything was fine...150kb/s torrents up and down, insane buffer speeds on youtube and place)... but last night was the worst it has ever been.

I am meant to have an 2meg line.

Last night I was;

Downloading PES6 - Down = 20kb Up = 25kb/s (those figures are stuck, i have no idea why...even though it is set to No Limit in the client and the ports are forwarded perfectly)
on IRC
on MSN
on Xfire
and had the Index of the Forum Open.

everyone can agree that really this is piss all usage in comparrison to play a game online.

I got kicked from IRC 5 times for too high ping...it was infact registering at over 2seconds = 2000ms
The connection dropped out from MSN and Xfire many times
New webpages....even moving between boards on the forum...had to be reloaded a good 4-5 times to make them work properly.

As such I got fucked off and sent them a very angry email, and if i wasn't going to be out for the next two days i'd be constantly on the phone trying to find out what the fuck is up with it.

So yea...question is...does anyone else live around the Reading/Tadley/Basingstoke area and has Pipex...and are you getting the same problem...or do you just have Pipex and have the same problem?

i would...but everyone else i know around here is fine.

i get the feeling i've been blacklisted or something....but even 6 months ago i was only downloading maybe 5 gigs a month....of torrents that is...gaming and everything probably pushed it upto nearer 10.

must quite honestly thats fucked.

Some ISPs limit your download and upload speeds if you exceed your bandwidth allowance.

i've just swapped to pipex from plusnet for the reasons of plusnet usage limits and shite network performance.

now pipex have been no better on network performance recently and as someone else said they're on eclipse and its being shite only unifying theory between them all is BT's backbone i'm guessing its starting to get a little overloaded

Or just get a decent isp that won't mess with your connection. I had that crappy fair use policy for a bit and had to switch to a business connection just to stop it :/

Does all ISPs in the UK have download limits? Must suck a fair bit tbh.

15G a month is okish, if you're a casual downloader. But it's bound to be shit, if you're even remotely active in any form of p2p community.

Happily I don't have those kinds of problems. Just got upgraded from 2mbit to 5mbit for free, because the fucktards at my ISP kept changing my IP around. An angry letter and threats of suicide bombing their HQ, I was 3mbit the richer.

Unfortunately, England's telephone infrastructure is very old and the laying of new cables here is notoriously slow. All home user accounts offered by ISPs come with either a fair use policy (an unspecified cap) or a bandwidth allowance (a specified cap).

It's funny you should mention writing angry letters because I read a story in the paper a couple of months ago where one man phone up his ISP to cancel and they offered him 25% off his bill to stay. The fact is, ANYONE could call up and make a song and dance and get a discount - especially if you've been with that company for years.

It seems to be going the way dial-up did. usage caps. network monitoring.

Cheap ISP's just aren't worth it if you're a serious internet user.

I'm glad i signed up to zen's home 2000 when I did, it's now no longer available.
