Spartans are said to be descended from Xendor himself. They strive forward as one, never looking back, live their lives with no regret, and pursue a form of improvement that is, quite…unattainable. When their time comes, it has come, death is never mourned, nor is a feared, it is stared into with open eyes, with not even a flicker.

All Spartans strive to be the greatest. The best in any and all fields, and continue to until they can longer force air from their lungs. They eat, sleep and breathe their profession, and only the strong survive.

To be a Spartan, they have to be proved unto themselves and everyone, that they are, indeed, a Spartan. They must be noble to the cause and never stray from it. They must do as their elder’s say, without batting a single eyelid, regardless of what this demand is.

They would sooner run to Yavin IV and back than to do, or be seen to do, anything that is against this code.

As you should of guessed by now, we don’t take ourselves that seriously, come on, could a guild named after a movie honestly take themselves seriously…unless, you know…they were a bit, well, sad.

<300> is a guild based on the Euro-Chimaera SWGEmu server, started in early 2007 by AndersoN and I, primarily, we are based in the UK, however we do have members in continental Europe as well. <300> spans numerous age groups, from teenagers to people in the 30’s (or maybe more and they are secretly lying paedophiles! Although, hopefully not though.) Spanning many social groups and situations, hell, there are probably members with kids from Mail-order brides. We are attempting to create the most diverse group of players ever, a tough challenge I know, but a great challenge for any Spartan. (Dammit, there I go again…tbh, I really should edit this shit out at a later date.)

Let’s get one thing straight though, from…well, I would say the outset, but in this situation I don’t think I can – seeing as we are already quite the way into this drivel. We – and myself especially – may seem to have a rather skewed sense of humour, and – if I’m going to be honest – the above offended you in anyway, then you may not want to enter any further. Unless you like being offended of course, then come on in!

There are however, a few “guidelines” that hold true in <300>.

1)We all want to be the best {insert profession} on the server, no ifs, ands or buts.
2)We work together, if a guild mate needs help, you give it, we are in this together after all.
3)Have a laugh, it’s a game after all, we are all a close nit group of friends – even if it is only through the mutual love of a game (and in our case, a movie as well)

If you RP, hell, we can RP with the best of them – when the time arises. Not let the above scare you off.
If you don’t RP, we can do that too!

The only things we ask you to think about before you apply is; Are you mature enough to stick to the above “guidelines”, and to be an asset to the community we have here?

If so, sign up.

If not. Hell sign up anyway, don’t worry about it, we’ll tell you if you’re acting like a complete and utter douche.

Oh yea, and I forgot. <300> will be based in Sparta (oh fuck you I heard that groan), on Lok.

<300> will also be running Mos Krayt on Tatooine.

We also have a few plans under our sleeves that some of you may/may not already know about.

The 300 Spartan were only a small factor. The general of it all was at sea fighting the Persian sea fleet.

Tactics were amazing from the Sparta side. The only thing that really screwed those 300 up was the disappearance of the guys covering behind. They were told their village had been raped so they said up yours to the Sparta and left the rear completely exposed (no homo).

The injured went back to Sparta and 300 stayed to keep the Persian army focused on that particular area. Those 300 died but they did it to protect the ones who fell back to Sparta to prepare another attack.

Just goes to prove that quality will triumph over quantity nearly every time.

But yea, I will be part of your guild :)

300 (http://300themovie.warnerbros.com/), written and directed by Zack Snyder, based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller, starring Gerard Butler and Lena Headey.

FRANK MILLER’S 300 has all the elements to make it a runaway box office success. Massive violence, gore, a sex scene in the first 15 minutes and hyper-stylized cinematography that makes you feel like you’re playing a videogame.
It’s also a rank cesspool of racism, sexism, homophobia and “freedom-loving” pro-war propaganda.

300’s style, pro-war message and racism evoke Sergei Eisenstein’s classic propaganda film Alexander Nevsky, a retelling of Russia’s defense against the Holy Roman Empire, which was used as blatant pro-war propaganda in Russia in the lead-up to Second World War.

But where Nevsky was artistically groundbreaking, and made by a man whose previous work was revolutionary in every sense of the word, 300 rehashes the same art direction as Miller’s previous film Sin City and continues to spew the right-wing politics of its creator.

The movie 300 inaccurately follows the Battle of Thermopylae, a sort of Alamo for ancient Greece, where an army of about 4,000 Greeks--including 300 Spartans--faced a much larger army of Persians, commanded by King Xerxes. The eventual defeat of this small force is said to have rallied the rest of Greece for a final victory against the Persians.

The film is riddled with historical inaccuracies, but it’s the ones that send clear right-wing messages that are the most alarming. The filmmakers go to great lengths to portray the Persians as evil, decadent, cruel and effeminate, unlike the manly men of Sparta.

The Persians employ a whole host of horrifying creatures, from deranged giants to a monster with bone-axes for arms, in contrast to the flawless chiseled bodies of the Greeks. Inexplicably, the Persians are mostly played by Black actors, or actors wearing dark body paint, going up against white Greeks, played by British actors.
Over and over again it is mentioned that the Persians fight with a slave army, and run a vast empire on slave labor. Not even once is it mentioned that all of Greek society, especially Sparta, kept slaves in extremely cruel bondage.

The incessant narration (that insists on describing every moment of the movie) points out that the Spartan force has some “freed slaves” in it, without pointing out that they had to be slaves first to be freed.

Women in the film are mainly used as sex objects. The one powerful woman, Queen Gorgo of Sparta, ends up being raped by Theron, a Spartan politician who’s bribed by the Persians to resist sending the entire Spartan army into battle.
The one satisfying moment of the film is when Gorgo gets her revenge by stabbing Theron and exposing his treason.

Homophobia gets its due as well in 300, with the Persians--especially Xerxes--portrayed as effeminate and cruel. In one scene, the giant Xerxes implies that King Leonidas of Sparta will become his personal sex slave after the Spartans’ defeat.

The most dangerous aspect of 300 is its blatant call for the West to attack Iran. Iran, after all, used to be called Persia, and the film pulls no punches in exhorting the “free and rational” West to defend itself against the Persian hordes. Queen Gorgo even utters the tired cliché “Freedom is not free!”

“By ancient Persia, they refer to modern Iran--whose soldiers are portrayed as bloodthirsty, underdeveloped zombies,” points out Greek film critic Dimitris Danikas. “They are stroking racist instincts in Europe and America.”

It shouldn’t be surprising then that Miller’s next project is a comic book called Holy Terror, Batman! where the Caped Crusader goes up against Al-Qaeda in New York City.

Film critic Curt Holman best sums up why a film like 300 is so dangerous in today’s political climate: “You can easily imagine 300 being used as the best military recruitment film ever, lacking only a coda like, ‘Did you know that Persia is now called Iran? Let’s invade Tehran and kick ass like Spartans!’ In the wrong hands, 300 could be a lethal weapon.”
