Many games i think purely for RP purposes have Guild rankings, would it be possible for people to acquire certain ranks based on their efforts in a specific area?
These 3 areas would have roughly 10 ranks each with titles. these areas would be FINANCE GCW MANAFACTURING.
FINANCE = Donations to city or local businesses within the mayor would give or revoke these titles based on city rankings.
GCW pvp kills or pve kills merit these guild ranks. eventually each guild would have a single champion this person would be a leader to all and his guidance and strategy would determine his legitimacy.
MANAFACTURING = Those few who toil away in private to aid their guild to procure resources armour, weapons and anything needed in the production process would receive titles.
These would be great to motivate people work as a team and give the mayor the ability to Bank roll crafters who excel in the guild.

Its got holes in it i know but when i work hard i want people to see just how dedicated i am...I think this will give mayors the opportunity to see who is simply in the guild or those who are the embodiment of teamwork.
At which point crafters would know who is making their lives easier as the PVE donations would spread to the crafters and thus the crafters would reciprocate.

guilds could probably make this shit up...
but as a proper implemented system, i doubt it.

I'm sure, of all of the coding required, custom titles for whatever purpose would be pretty easy to put in. It wouldn't take too long to do, I'd think, but I think the form you describe is a bit over the top, imho.
Maybe time has dulled my recollection, but considering how tight the community had become, everyone already knew who the best crafters, PVPers, and resource gatherers were. Their deeds spoke for them across the whole server usually, rather than because they displayed an arbitrary title given to them just because a guild leader fancied doing it.
The GCW system itself has been a matter of discussion here many times, the problem with the concept of each guild eventually having 'a single champion' who is a 'leader to all' is - why would you want one to ascend like this...? You could easily farm factional mobs all day and bust bases by night, amass an absolute ton of GCW points, and yet do sod all in real terms for your guild. Leaders emerge because either they have strong friendship bonds or strong leadership skills or both, it's not really something that you can put a mathematical formula on. It's like in WoW - just because you do battlegrounds all day, and amass stacks of honour, does that actually make you more qualified to lead a guild, be someone worth knowing, or worth being listened to in general matters? Possibly. But possibly not.
In my personal experience, people never needed titles to motivate them in any way. They knew that if they were a PVPer, they'd become well known and respected through their actions over time. If they were a crafter, they'd be able to see their unique named items all over the server. The rich tapestry of the community already knew who the strong threads were, and the same will eventually become true on the new EC server. I'm sure new and veteran EC'ers alike will do their best to either forge or resurrect their reputation over time, as the server population matures.
Word of mouth, helping their friends, and enjoying their dedicated play (in whatever field) was what drove people's success, and motivated them. Titles couldn't hurt, I suppose, but I'm a pre-CU purist to be honest, and I liked the limited number that there were. Unless you made such tags and titles only viewable by other guild members. But then, they'd probably already know who is a good guild member and who is making up the numbers.
I'd favour a slight expansion of some of the regular profession/skill titles, but a total of THIRTY customisable RP tags like this? Ouch!
Oh, and before I forget, please save this picture as your new desktop. I made it especially for you :

At the end of the day, would your rather we were working on getting the server finished as it was Pre-CU, or adding in extra functionality such as this?
We can add extra stuff like this in later on, but I highly doubt it would be available from release 1.
